I can picture in my
mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking
that world, because they'd never expect it.
- Jack Handey, "Deep Thoughts"
The new 007 Villain Collection marketing campaign from Swatch is nothing ground breaking, but I am a fan of most things swatch and 007, so I was eager to take their "What's Your Evil Nature Test?"
I was relived to learn that I was most like Emilio Largo. I'd like to think that if I was a villain, I'd be one of the grand world domination cold war masterminds of old and not one of the more down to earth Franz Sanchez type criminals.
From a marketing standpoint, the campaign site has all the standard viral hooks, embed codes for badges, share with a friend options, video clips, downloadable mp3s, and fun facts about all of the 007 badies. The "What's Your Evil Nature" quiz is particularly well executed with the quiz having bright and iconic visual choices instead of the usual text.

I love that quote about not knowing we would attack...my type of villian would be one that is well torn between good and evil...
Some days ya just wanna smack somebody and then the next love them...funny thing we call life...

Marketing practice tended to be seen as a creative industry in the past, which included advertising, distribution and selling. However, because the academic study of marketing makes extensive use of social sciences, psychology, sociology, mathematics, economics, anthropology and neuroscience, the profession is now widely recognized as a science, allowing numerous universities to offer Master-of-Science (MSc) programmes. The overall process starts with marketing research and goes through market segmentation, business planning and execution, ending with pre and post-sales promotional activities. It is also related to many of the creative arts. The marketing literature is also adept at re-inventing itself and its vocabulary according to the times and the culture.

The niche targeting options are similar but not quite as specific as Facebook. From the limited test I did CPC and CTR seemed to be very similar to my results on Facebook. Overall I still prefer Facebook's platform, but this is defintiely a move in the right direction and an advertising option to keep in mind for future campaigns.

ray ban
That's quite a pungent description, but I hope to live up to it. There's a lot of difficult and detailed work to be done in this gig for sure, but I need to keep looking to make trouble in the positive, fun, routine-breaking sense of the phrase.
